Galveston Travel information



Galveston Travel plans are very important taking into considerations that one has to pass through Houston. There are two main ways to travel to Galveston Texas by air.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport or the Hobby Airport in Houston Texas are the main gateways.

The Scholes International Airport in Galveston only caters for individually owned air crafts.

Bush airport (IAH) is Houston's largest airport with many domestic and international carriers.

Flights from Bush airport connects to over 180 domestic and international destinations.

It is easy to make Galveston travel plans from Europe, Asia or anywhere else to Galveston TX.

Some of the carriers currently flying from the Bush Airport are British Airways, American Airlines, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, Emirates, Taca, Unites Airlines,

Quatar, U.S. Airways, KLM, Air France, Delta Airways and Continental Airways which is mainly based in Houston. The (IAH) airport is about 75 miles from Galveston.

The William P. Hobby Airport only serves domestic flights. This is the best airport for tourists coming from other states in the U.S. It"s about 45 miles from Galveston.

Hobby Airport is the largest hub for for Southwest Airlines. Some other carriers that fly through the airport are American Airlines, Delta, Air Tran and Jet Blue Airline.

There are car rental services at both airports. Rentals can be available within a few minutes.

For those driving from out of state or in state, there are many roads that connect to Houston.

The 4 major ones are I-10 East and I-10 West Freeway, I-59 North Freeway, I-59 South Freeway and I-45 North Freeway.

These roads connect to I-45 South Freeway which is the main road that leads to Galveston from Houston.

Just a reminder, Houston Traffic can be heavy sometimes. Traffic will also depend on the travel period.

  • Get onto I-45 S via the ramp on the LEFT. (38 mi)
  • I-45 S turns to BROADWAY ST/AVENUE J/TX-87 N. (3 mi)
  • Make a LEFT onto 26TH ST. (0.2 mi)

    From Houtson to Galveston Cruises 523 24th St, Galveston, TX

  • Go SOUTHWEST on MILAM ST toward PRESTON ST which is about 0.2 miles
  • then turn RIGHT onto CAPITOL ST. which is about 1/2 a mile.
  • Make a LEFT turn onto HOUSTON AVE. (0.2 miles)
  • Make another LEFT onto HEINER ST about 0.2 miles
  • merge onto I-45 S via the ramp on the LEFT toward GALVESTON, about 48 miles drive.
  • I-45 S turns to BROADWAY ST/AVENUE J/TX-87 N. (2.5 mi)
  • Make a LEFT onto 25TH ST/ROSENBERG ST. (0.3 mi)

  • Make a RIGHT onto WINNIE ST/AVENUE G. (0.2 mi)
